Dallas
The shop sits in the part of east Dallas that locals describe by its roads rather than by a name: south of Northwest Highway, east of Buckner Boulevard, north of I-30 and just inside the I-635 loop.
Lakewood and Old East Dallas are the heart of it. The Tudors and bungalows around Swiss Avenue, Munger Place, Hollywood Heights and the M Streets belong to people who keep cars for a long time: W124 and W210 wagons, W211 and W212 E-Class sedans, R129 and R230 SL roadsters, and the GLE and GLS that carry Lakewood families to Woodrow and the lake trails.
Lake Highlands, White Rock and Casa Linda are 1950s and 1960s ranch neighborhoods along Audelia, Walnut Hill, Ferguson and Buckner. The cars skew to C-Class W204 and W205, GLK and GLC, ML W164 and W166, many bought second-hand at eight or ten years old.
Uptown, Oak Lawn and Downtown are leased CLA, C-Class, GLA, GLC and AMG cars living in high-rise garages between short trips. Preston Hollow, the 75225 and 75230 streets off Preston Road, is S-Class, G-Class and GLS country, which means Airmatic and ABC. The franchised service departments inside Dallas sit on the north and west sides along I-635 and the Tollway; from the eastern half of the city they are farther away than we are.
Casa View and Casa Linda are the immediate neighbors, a few minutes along Ferguson Road or Buckner Boulevard. Lakewood, Hollywood Heights and Lakewood Heights reach us by Garland Road past the Arboretum, usually under ten minutes outside of Saturday morning lake traffic.
Lake Highlands drops in from the north: Audelia or Skillman to Northwest Highway, then Ferguson Road south, a ten to fifteen minute window that never touches I-635.
From Uptown and Oak Lawn the fastest line is Woodall Rodgers to I-30 east, then the Buckner Boulevard or Ferguson Road exit, fifteen minutes off-peak. Between 4 and 6 pm the eastbound side of I-30 past Fair Park slows, and Live Oak and Gaston through Old East Dallas are often calmer.
Getting back without a second car is straightforward: a rideshare from the shop to the Arts District takes about fifteen minutes, and the DART Blue Line stops at White Rock Station on Northwest Highway with a direct run to the West End and Pearl/Arts District.
Lakewood and Old East Dallas keep cars. The work from there is W211 E-Class with SBC brakes on the original hydraulic unit and 2006–2010 M272 cars now at the age where oil cooler seals and cam adjuster magnet seals weep onto the exhaust.
Uptown and Downtown garages hold the leased end: CLA, GLA, W205 and GLC X253 that sit for days and then throw battery-related faults, plus W204 C-Class at the mileage where the ESL steering lock fails. Preston Hollow is suspension work: Airmatic on W221, W222 and X166 GLS, ABC on W221 and C216 cars.
Distance is not the reason; the franchised departments on the north and west sides are physically closer to Preston Hollow, and Northwest Highway from Preston Road east to Ferguson is a twenty-minute drive. The reason is the kind of work: an out-of-warranty W221 with ABC, a W222 whose Airmatic compressor runs too long, a GLS with a rear strut that sags overnight, written as a range and backed for 2 years parts and 2 years labor, up to 24,000 miles, nationwide.
Work still under factory or extended coverage, including the SBC hydraulic unit program, belongs at the dealer, and we say so after the diagnostic.
Requested from here

Uptown garage cars that sit between short trips throw intermittent faults; a quick test with freeze-frame data separates a weak battery from a failing module.

Lakewood and Lake Highlands daily drivers on the factory 10,000-mile interval: MB 229.5 or 229.52 oil as the engine requires and the counter reset in XENTRY.

Preston Hollow S-Class, GLS and GLE owners with a corner that drops overnight or a compressor that never stops; the system is leak-tested before anything is replaced.

East Dallas W211, W164 and W204 cars from 2006–2011 that leave spots on old driveways; oil cooler seals and valve cover gaskets are the usual sources.

W204 steering lock failures in Uptown garages, where a key that will not turn strands the car on a lower level with no cell signal.

Lakewood families still running a 2003–2006 W211; we read the SBC counter and explain the extended hydraulic unit coverage before quoting anything.

Questions
Garland Road is faster from anything east of Abrams: it runs along the lake past the Arboretum and meets Buckner a few minutes from us. Gaston works better from the Swiss Avenue and Munger Place end. Either way it is ten to fifteen minutes.
Yes. The Blue Line runs from White Rock Station directly to the West End, Akard and Pearl/Arts District, and a rideshare takes about fifteen minutes.
Saturday mornings in spring and fall can slow Garland Road between Mockingbird and Buckner because of Arboretum traffic and lake events. Buckner Boulevard from I-30, or Ferguson Road from Northwest Highway, avoids the lake. Saturday hours are Sat: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
Not the dealer records, but more than you might expect. ASSYST Plus stores recent service entries in the cluster, XENTRY reads them along with stored and historical fault codes, and the SCN coding status shows which modules have been updated.
